    • Where can I obtain the application form for ID-Certs?
    • The various application forms can be found at the download centre or here.
    • Can I apply for an ID-Cert online?
    • We provide online application for Personal ID-Cert Class 1 only. Should you wish to apply for Personal ID-Cert Class 8 or Organizational ID-Cert Class 2 / 5 / 9, please submit the application form the Digi-Sign's office by post.
    • How much is an ID-Cert?
    • Please refer to the Digi-Sign website for the charge.
    • What supporting documents do I need to submit for an ID-Cert?
    • For Personal ID-Cert

      A photocopy of any your personal identity documents such as

      • Hong Kong Identity Card; or
      • Passport; or
      • Any other relevant travel documents
      For Organizational ID-Cert

      A Photocopy of relevant personal identity documents of the Authorized Representative or Authorized User stated in the Organization ID-Cert Application Form

      • A mandate signed by a director of the subscriber or a resolution of the board of directors of the subscriber approving the application for ID-Certs and the Authorized Delegate(s) nominated for Class 2 / Authorized Representative for Class 5 / 9; and
      • A photocopy of the Business Registration Certificate, Form 2 Business Registration Ordinance (Cap. 310); and
      • A photocopy of the Certificate of Incorporation, or Certificate of Registration (foreign companies); and
      • The Memorandum and Articles of Association
    • What is the validity period of an ID-Cert?
    • An ID-Cert is valid for 1, 2 or 3 years.
    • What is the main difference between Organizational ID-Cert Class 2 and Organizational ID-Cert Class 5 / 9?
    • The Organizational ID-Cert Class 2 and the Organizational ID-Cert Class 5 / 9 are recognized ID-Certs. For Organizational ID-Cert Class 2, each of the ID-Cert holders is required to collect the ID-Cert at the Digi-sign office in person. For Organizational ID-Cert Class 5 / 9, a representative nominated by the organization handles all the ID-Cert related matters including submission of the application form, ID-Cert collection and information maintenance.
    • What kind of storage media will be used to store the ID-Cert?
    • For ID-Cert Class 1 / 2 / 3 / 5 - The ID-Cert will normally be stored in a USB flash drive. It can be read by common computers equipped with USB ports. In some situations, they can also be stored in a secure token.
      For ID-Cert Class 8 / 9 - The ID-Cert will be stored in a secure token. A software driver is required to activate the token.
    • Can I download the secure token user manual online?
    • You can download the manual from Digi-Sign web site.
    • What are the major features of ID-Cert Class 8 & 9?
    • ID-Cert Class 8 and Class 9 are participating in the mutual recognition scheme of certificates under the "Arrangement of mutual recognition of electronic signature certificates issued by Hong Kong and Guangdong".
    • How can I get more information about Organizational (Remote) ID-Cert Class 15?

    • Can I change the information stored in the ID-Cert?
    • Once the ID-Cert is generated, the information stored in the ID-Cert cannot be changed. If you wish to change any information on the ID-Cert such as your name or email address, you must revoke your existing ID-Cert and re-apply for a new one.
    • How can I change my contact information?
    • For Personal ID-Cert Class 1 subscriber, you can either submit your request online or download the Change Request Form and send the duly completed form to Digi-Sign office by mail or via fax 2174 0019.

      For Personal ID-Cert Class 8 or Organizational ID-Cert Class 2 / Class 5 / Class 9 subscriber, you can download the Change Request Form and send the duly completed form to Digi-Sign office by mail or via fax 2174 0019.

    • How can I submit the application of ID-Cert?
    • For ID-Cert Class 1, you can either submit your request online or download the Application Form and send the duly completed form to Digi-Sign office by post or fax at 2174 0019.
    • How long will Digi-Sign take to process my ID-Cert application?
    • It will take 3 working days to process the application upon receipt of all the relevant documents. We will contact you within 3 working days for the arrangement of ID-Cert collection.
    • Why do I have to present my personal identity documents (such as HKID card / Passport) to Digi-Sign's staff when I collect the ID-Cert?
    • According to the Certification Practice Statement (CPS), Digi-Sign has to conduct a face-to-face identity verification of the subscriber to ensure the ID-Cert has genuinely been issued to the subscriber.
    • What should I do if I cannot visit Digi-Sign's office to collect the ID-Cert?
    • Digi-Sign provides a delivery service at a charge of HK$440. Digi-Sign will perform the face-to-face identity verification which requires checking of your identity document to ensure the ID-Cert has genuinely been issued to you as the subscriber.
    • Can I authorize a third party to collect the ID-Cert on my behalf?
    • No, you cannot authorize anybody to collect your ID-Cert on your behalf. According to the Certification Practice Statement, you must collect the ID-Cert in person for identity verification by Digi-Sign staff at the time of certificate collection.
    • How can I change the ID-Cert password?
    • For ID-Cert stored in USB flash drive

      The "Change Password Utility" is available at the Digi-Sign website. The utility is designed for Digi-Sign ID-Cert subscribers who wish to change the password (or PIN) of their private keys stored as PKCS#12 files in USB flash drive or any alternative storage medium.

      The new password must be at least 8 characters in length. It must contain numbers, upper and lower case letters.

      For ID-Cert stored in secure token

      After the "Safenet Authentication Client" is installed, you can open it, click the "Advanced View" icon and select the "Change Password" from the shortcut menu.

    • How can I revoke my ID-Cert?
    • You have to submit a revocation request by sending the duly completed Revocation Form to Digi-Sign's office by post or in person.
    • Will I be notified if my ID-Cert is revoked?
    • A revocation confirmation acknowledgement will be issued to the subscriber by post when your ID-Cert is revoked.
